Ex-PM Vanuatu don't like the Gift from RI

PORT VILA - Former Prime Minister of Vanuatu, namely: Barack Sope, urged the Government of Vanuatu to reject the gift of police uniforms provided by the Government of Indonesia. The prize was awarded by the Ambassador is: Riphat Kesoema, which is newly appointed to become envoys of Indonesia to Vanuatu.

Riphat ambassador who also served as Ambassador to Australia, presented his credentials to the President of Vanuatu: Lolu Johnson Abil, yesterday. Ambassador of the Government of Vanuatu Riphat also provide a gift of a police uniform.

Sope immediately requested the Government of Vanuatu reject the gift. Sope it offensive, gift symbol associated with the bloody tragedy in West Papua.

"Much blood has been shed in West Papua and the Indonesian military is responsible for it," said Sope the Radio Pacific Beat, Wednesday (02/27/2013).

"How can Indonesia to help residents Melanesia in Vanuatu and other areas, where they also killed the Melanesians in West Papua. We can not accept that," he said.

Sope called the tragedy in West Papua is the tragedy of human rights violations. Former head of the Vanuatu government also said that Indonesia should solve the problems of human rights in West Papua.

Indirectly, Sope called the case of West Papua as a case of colonialism. And Indonesia is reluctant to tackle it.

PORT VILA - Mantan Perdana Menteri Vanuatu, yaitu: Barack Sope, mendesak Pemerintah Vanuatu agar menolak hadiah berupa seragam polisi yang diberikan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia. Hadiah itu diberikan oleh Duta Besar RI yaitu: Riphat Kesoema, yang mana adalah baru ditunjuk untuk menjadi utusan Indonesia untuk Vanuatu.


Dubes Riphat yang juga bertugas sebagai Dubes RI untuk Australia, menyerahkan surat kepercayaannya ke Presiden Vanuatu: Lolu Johnson Abil, kemarin. Dubes Riphat juga memberikan Pemerintah Vanuatu sebuah hadiah berupa seragam polisi.

Sope langsung meminta Pemerintah Vanuatu menolak pemberian hadiah itu. Sope justru menyinggung, hadiah itu simbol yang berkaitan dengan tragedi berdarah di Papua Barat.

"Banyak darah yang sudah ditumpahkan di Papua Barat dan militer Indonesia bertanggung jawab atas hal itu," ujar Sope dalam Radio Pasific Beat, Rabu (27/2/2013).

"Bagaimana bisa Indonesia membantu warga Melanesia di Vanuatu dan wilayah lainnya, bila mereka juga membunuh warga Melanesia di Papua Barat. Kami tidak bisa menerima hal itu," tegasnya.

Sope menyebut tragedi di Papua Barat adalah sebagai tragedi pelanggaran HAM. Mantan kepala pemerintahan Vanuatu itu juga mengatakan bahwa Indonesia harus menyelesaikan masalah-masalah HAM di Papua Barat.

Secara tidak langsung, Sope menyebut kasus Papua Barat itu sebagai kasus kolonialisme. Dan Indonesia dinilai enggan mengatasi hal itu.
